Hand carved from quartz, this discreet and elegant object can be gazed upon, used as a worry stone or simply sit as an ever-present weight in your pocket.
“Suddenly, coincident with Death, the beam end dropped with an audible stroke hitting against the lower limiting bar and remaining there with no rebound. The loss was ascertained to be three-fourths of an ounce.” NY Times March 3, 1907
This carved stone piece is inspired by the pseudo-scientific findings of Dr. Duncan Macdougall, who worked at the turn of the last century to prove the existence of a soul via scientific method. This discreet and beautiful object can be purely decorative, used as a worry stone or as an ever-present weight in your pocket.
Each Weight of the Soul measures approximately two inches long and is hand-carved from clear quartz with natural and irregular inclusions (differing characteristics embedded within the stone). Each one is unique in exact coloration and markings and weighs three-fourths of an ounce.
The Weight of the Soul was designed by Ted Muehling who has been designing jewelry and decorative objects inspired by organic forms found in nature since 1976.
